Celebrate International Women’s Day by doing something for yourself! Thanks to a grant received from The Lord Mayor’s Community Fund, Brisbane City Sounds is offering a series of free a cappella singing workshops for singers interested in joining the chorus, or for anyone who would like to try their hand at four-part a cappella harmony singing. This is a rare opportunity as we usually need to charge a fee for a program like this to cover our costs.
So, if you have always dreamed of singing in an accomplished vocal group, or would just like to learn about vocal techniques and a cappella singing, we’d love to see you at our 2020 vocal education program (VEP)!
An afternoon workshop on Sunday 8 March (International Women’s Day) will be followed by three Thursday evenings of group vocal tuition and singing, and culminate with an opportunity to perform with us.
You will discover how much fun it is to sing with other women in four-part a cappella harmony! Our director Hayley Marsh, an experienced musical educator, guarantees that the program will not be daunting, regardless of your level of musical knowledge or experience. “These workshops are about exploring your voice and experiencing the magic of ringing chords in exhilarating harmonies. Once you experience this, it’s hard not to get hooked!”, she says.
