Hi, I’m Trish!

In 2022 and retired, I was seeking out meaningful pursuits.  I stumbled upon a Brisbane City Sounds Chorus Open Night ad and with some other apprehensive rookies I joined a 6 week recruitment program.  Singing had not been a recent pastime, although I appreciated diverse music and loved singing with friends at concerts.  I remembered encouraging my late father to join his church choir to expand his social network and with this in mind I was inspired to give BCS a go!!

The sound of a cappella harmonies is incredibly captivating and once heard I was hooked.  In the first few months there were lots of new things to learn but the chorus girls were extremely supportive helping me find my own way – one bite at a time!! Apart from the odd Black & White movie scene I had no experience of the “barbershop” style but now I look forward to our Thursdays where we produce this awesome ‘harmony’ sound with likeminded friends.

Now, Brisbane City Sounds Chorus is part of my routine.  I help on their leadership team with coordination of Fundraising Events as they’re a Member funded organisation.  BCS occasionally performs around Brisbane and travels to cities like Perth and Hobart every other year to commune and compete with other chorus groups.  These are terrific social and travel opportunities to experience with great friends.  After each rehearsal or performance, I leave feeling energized and buoyed by the ‘happy’ chemicals.  Sharing song is a deeply rewarding experience so I sincerely encourage you to come visit us – and perhaps you will be hooked too!
